A range of great locations for an elopement or wedding can be found in the Port Douglas region. The beauty and diversity of the natural environment are what makes this place special.
Four mile beach curves gently along the coast, lined with palm trees and vegetation that hides much of the housing and resorts of Port Douglas. There are a number of great spots for a wedding ceremony, either on the Macrossan st or ‘town’ end or the southern end accessed via Baler Street or the Sea Temple Resort.
The open beach is beautiful in the early morning and late afternoon, or utilise the shade of a coconut palm grove for midday ceremonies.
Oak Beach just south of Port or Newell Beach north of Mossman are also great options. Both have a range of private houses for rent, and some of these can be utilised for a wedding ceremony.
Little Cove is very popular spots for good reason – the beautiful green grassy area overlooks the water and is tucked away to the side of Rex Smeal Park. Getting to Little Cove is very easy as it is only a few minute’s walk from the main street and its hotels. The surrounding area offers plenty of photo opportunities and can be spectacular at sunset.
For something different, the rainforest and mountain areas close by to Port Douglas are a great option. Resorts, holiday houses and villas are available at a number of these beautiful green spots throughout the region. Great examples include the ‘Rainforest Estate’ and ‘Bali Hai’ both set amongst the forest not far from Mossman and Port Douglas.
